As 2016 draws to a close and I reflect on the company’s achievements over the past 12 months, I am again humbled by the opportunities that continue to present themselves as a result of working with the travel industry’s most talented professionals, supportive partners and engaging clients.
It has been another fantastic year for the CTM Group, packed full of exciting new ventures across our diversifying business portfolio. I have to remind myself that just five years ago CTM was operating in two countries (Australia and New Zealand) with a head count of 380 staff, and the typical business travel experience involved consultant-centric booking processes, paper itineraries and printed boarding passes. The business travel experience has matured beyond recognition in a very short period of time. Today, CTM provides award-winning corporate travel solutions to clients in 53 countries across six continents, and employs more than 2,200 travel professionals who are supported and empowered by a suite of market leading travel technologies.
CTM has once again delivered a record year in terms of client retention and new client wins, with client feedback highlighting our continued commitment to service excellence combined with ground-breaking technologies being the key drivers of that success.
CTM has never grown just for the sake of growth. We have grown to meet our clients’ need for high quality, localised business travel advice in every region they operate in. Our increasing scale continues to deliver benefits for our clients; allowing us to capture greater travel savings when negotiating partnerships and deals with travel suppliers, and enabling us to develop client-focused travel technologies and systems that save people money, time and stress.

Welcoming new teams to CTM in 2016 and early 2017
Just four years after entering the North American market, CTM this year cemented its position as one of the 10 largest travel management companies in the region following the additions of Montrose Travel and Travizon Travel. Both acquisitions have built valuable market share in North America, providing our clients with improved service offerings which combine specialised local market knowledge, regional and industry-specific account management expertise, and greater supplier leverage – all delivering a greater return on their business travel investment.
Montrose has had a record year of all time in its long and esteemed history, and added much value to our Loyalty opportunities globally. I wanted to personally thank the Montrose team for their dedication and passion to the cause. We also welcomed Matt and the Travizon team who have settled in exceptionally well into the business. We look forward to some excellent contributions into the near future.
I also wish to thank Chris Thelen who has picked up his life and moved from London to the USA to lead what is now our largest region. Chris is bringing the energy and enthusiasm needed as we continue to build the business.
Early 2017 will see the addition of Redfern Travel, UK into the business, making CTM Europe a top 7 player with major scale and competitive advantage to service current and future clients. We will also welcome Andrew Jones Travel, Tasmania into the ANZ region, further adding a great brand to new geography for CTM.
As we continue to expand our reach, we will ensure we never lose sight of our goals and continue to respond and adapt to the unique needs of our clients both locally and globally.
Complacency is not in our nature. We recognise the benefits of agility, in listening to our clients and employees, and in building our business goals and development roadmaps around tomorrow’s travel landscape, always staying one step ahead. We are committed to continuous improvement through an ongoing investment in our people, technology and services. This year, our business and people have been acknowledged as leaders in the delivery of travel solutions across multiple areas of our service offering; corporate, events, leisure and technology. What does the year ahead hold for CTM and our clients? We continue to be hungry for improvement, for facing challenges with a can-do attitude, and for never settling for second best, which in turn translates into ongoing enhancements to our service and product offering, advancements into new emerging travel technologies and unbeatable value across our clients’ travel programs.
